I took my practical and comprehensive exams today for Level 1 and I'm proud to say I passed with flying colors! I have to admit I was a bit nervous about the practical part. I'm comfortable in the kitchen but speed is not my strong point and all the kitchen exercises for the exam are time sensitive. Yes, it was a bit like Top Chef quick-fire challenges, for those of you who are wondering. The written exam was much easier than I thought and I'm a bit annoyed I spent so much time studying when it was hardly comprehensive. All is not lost though since I need to know most of the stuff I studied going forward anyhow.
After class, my classmates and I went for a celebratory drink at a neighborhood dive bar. I'm starting to become a big fan of mid-afternoon drinking these days. Feels great after an intense and stressful day of class. It was also nice to bond and get to know my fellow classmates. There's a real cohesiveness to our class and every person really adds something to the overall vibe. I realize how much I miss being part of something ever since I left work. I'm definitely looking forward to the next few months!
