There is nothing more inspiring than walking through a market with fresh produce. I am pleasantly surprised that the Grand Central Market is almost like a mini farmers' market with seafood vendors, a butcher, 2 cheese shops, a spice purveyor, a florist and extremely fresh and relatively cheap produce stand. It's convenient that it's on my way home. Much easier than fighting the crowds at Trader Joe's or paying up the wazoo at Whole Foods. I decided to make a spring time dish that was a throwback to my days at culinary school: Potato Gnocchi with Jumbo Shrimp and Fava Beans (and bread crumbs, lemon zest and parmesan cheese.) The dish I learned was made with cavatelli, rock shrimp and ricotta salata. It turned out really well and looks so fun and springy!
