I took it easy this weekend after an exhausting work of week. We started our new fall menu and it's been stressful learning the new dishes and keeping up with the busy lunch reservations. I've barely had time to eat all week, which is very unusual for me. I spent much of the weekend on the couch to give my aching legs and feet a break. Also ordered a new pair of Crocs--my one year old pair has reached its last days.
I had a relaxing dinner at Locanda Verde, one of my favorite restaurants. Although this experience wasn't as good as the first, I still liked most of the dishes I tried. The wood fired brick chicken for two is a must. Some of the tastiest roasted chicken I've eaten and I'm hard to impress with chicken. Unfortunately, it was much too dark to take pictures.
Other eventful food adventures this weekend included a trip to Bun & Co., located where Kampuchea once was and run by the same owner. It's basically a sit down place for the same Cambodian sandwiches sold at Num Pang (same owner.) I had the ginger beef brisket sandwich, which was good but nothing to write home about. Not so sure I'll be returning.
The time I did spend outside was wonderful. Fall was definitely everywhere. The air was crisp and clean. A walk through the Union Square Greenmarket showcased pumpkins, gourds, root vegetables. Fall, I welcome you with open arms. Please keep winter away as long as possible!
